In most breeding and multiplication herds, electronic ear tags are used. This can be an advantage if you want to follow the same pig from birth to slaughter. For example, for herds with rearing without antibiotics (OUA), it is an advantage to be able to trace the pig when registering medicine.
Optimize the time of your registrations
When using electronic eartags for slaughter pigs, registration will be at the individual level instead of the group level. This will improve the traceability of your pigs - for example, during treatments. In addition, you can scan the eartag of the pig before each registration, so you don't have to search for the ID manually.
It is also possible to record a condition, weight or body condition.
The PigVision setup for electronic eartags
In PigVision, you can assign ear tags to your slaughter pigs, by telling the system that they are breeding animals. This does not have an effect on e-control or other registration. Once you have purchased electronic ear tags, open PigVision and create your finishers as breeding animals. This is done as follows:
Go to "Breeding" - "Breed progeny" and create your own layout, where you add the columns "TagID", "Ear notch" or "Ear tag" as well as "LFRF id".

In the example below, "TagID" is used, which is one of the 3 mentioned above. In these columns there are no rules, and therefore it is possible to enter both numbers and letters as desired.
Birth date, breed, etc. can be added but is optional.
Adding both high and low frequency eartags is easy and quick using the "PigVision Mobile Sows" app and a handheld reader. Search for the pig via the ID number and click on it. Then scan the eartag with the reader and you can now click "Yes" for them to be paired.
